Chairmen Frank and Watt, Ranking Members Bachus and Paul, and other members of the Committee and Subcommittee, I appreciate the opportunity to discuss the Federal Reserve’s strategy for exiting from the extraordinary lending and monetary policies that it implemented to combat the financial crisis and support economic activity.

As you age, the amount of collagen in your skin decreases. You lose that youthful firmness and skin begins to sag. Collagen molecules are too big to penetrate the skin’s surface. Applying products with collagen in them topically to your skin won’t improve your skin’s firmness at all. There are other ingredients, however, that help add firmness to your skin.

You already know that collagen added to lotions won’t benefit your skin. You should also avoid waxes, alcohols, and fragrances. Parabens can cause reactions in some people and may lead to serious health problems down the road. Vitamin E may be added as a preservative. It isn’t harmful, but its effectiveness isn’t proven.

 

Botanical ingredients are those that come from plants. These all-natural ingredients don’t guarantee an all-natural product. Make sure that every ingredient is either botanical, natural, or organic to ensure safety. These products not only provide excellent results, but do so without side effects you may get from products containing chemicals.

 

Grape seed oil is a natural ingredient that is used in some products and that closely resembles your skin’s own oil. It has the added benefit of providing anti-oxidant activity. Antioxidants attack free radicals in your body that can cause illness and are also responsible for premature aging.

 

The best skin firming face product for you may be a lotion or a cream. Lotions are usually lighter and easily absorbed into the skin. Creams are richer and usually provide more moisturizing ingredients. Creams are often applied at night before bed so that they have more time to soak into your skin.

 

All types of skin firming products are available from cleanser to moisturizer, and even cosmetics. Those that are used briefly on your skin are probably not going to be as beneficial to your skin as those that are applied and left on, such as a moisturizer. However, using an entire line of skin care products that are designed to work together is a good way to provide the maximum amount of skin firming ingredients and get the best results for your skin.
