What best product for firming facial skin? There is too many choices.?

Almost every over the counter topical treatment will not penetrate the dermis layer of the skin. So it does nothing to prevent wrinkles.

Try to eliminate sugars, too many carbs, and trans-fat. These all contribute to breaking down collagen

These are not all products, some are treatments. The idea is to constantly maintain youthful skin. If you suddenly wake up at 40 years old and notice a wrinkle, you should have been maintaining 20 years ago.

Derm Abrasion- Dermabrasion is a cosmetic medical procedure in which the surface of the epidermis of the skin (the stratum corneum) is removed by abrasion (lightly sanding with blasting small sand-like particles). It is used to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. You will look like you have a sunburn when you are finished. But it encourages the skin to constantly reginerate, thus preventing wrinkles from happening or softening them. It sands down the dead layer of skin and reveals the living layer. Suddenly your body say, "I need to generate more skin". So after a few days you will begin to peel, but then you are left with incredible skin. I would say go for a half dozen intensive treatments, once a month. And then once a season just for maintainance. It is an in and out procedure. And most people see fantastic results without intrusive plastic surgery. It's like peeling off the dry layer of an onion.

Regular Exfoliation: oatmeal and baking soda, great natural exfoliants. Just scrub lightly in the shower. You'll have a healthy glow and it also helps if you have any zits.

Retin-A: Was used for acne, but now for cosmetic reasons. You can get over the counter products with Retinol, or you can get a prescription for Retin-A. Retin-A will cause your skin to peel, and will leave you with a fresh and useful appearance. Can be done fairly frequently, with a dermatologist's instructions

Wrinkles are caused by the breakdown of elastin collagen. Collagen is the same time of material in your ear lobes and the soft parts in your nose. But it is the layer beneath the dermis that your skin "floats" on. When this breaks down you will see wrinkles. You can take collagen supplements. I drink "liquid bovine callagen" It tastes really nasty, but you only need about an ounce or two. Think of it as beauty medicine.

I believe that beauty starts from the outside in. Don't smoke, do not drink excessively, and get plenty of sleep. Always use sunblock on your face and NEVER use tanning beds (unless you drape your face with a towel). Also drink water as much as you can. Water! Water! Water!

Vitamin C, and Vitamine E are very important for healthy skin. If you smoke you should be taking at least 1000 mg a day (double)

Certain foods like avacados are fantastic for healthy skin. They have certain kinds of lipids (not saturated fat) that is excellent for skin.

Also Gelatin is excellent for skin, nails, and hair. J-E-L-L-0!!!

Biotin is also a good suppliment.

Just don't buy into all of these over the counter lotions. It's all marketing and a waste of time. They will make your skin feel moist. So use it for that purpose only. It won't hurt at all, but it will not prevent wrinkles.

Making the Most of Facial Moisturizers

Let's face it. When you were younger you could slap on any old facial cream and your skin would look and feel pretty good. However, as you age, it becomes more important to be choosy about what kind of facial moisturizers you select. The dryness you're experiencing now is much different from the dryness you experienced when you were younger. Making the most of facial moisturizers means using products that are specifically designed to treat the cause of this dryness.

You see, as we age our bodies become less efficient at producing proteins that keep your skin soft, smooth and firm. You've probably heard of collagen and elastins. Its important that your skin be allowed to breathe and excrete toxins that build up in the body...as it was designed to do.
