Facial Moisturizer
Lumberjacking Off
Beards have been back for a while, and now that New York magazine has made a point of explaining the trend to its readers, we’re half expecting to see the pale, weak chins of Bushwick reappear in revolt.
Is Using an Oil Free Anti-aging Facial Moisturizer Really a Good Idea?
Have you ever wondered if using an oil free, or for that matter an oil free anti-aging facial moisturizer, is healthy for your skin or if it's just a waste your time and money?
The truth...actually oil free and oil free anti-aging facial moisturizer products are not so good for your face. Why?
You are right when you believe that oil based skin care products clog the pores and leave your skin feeling greasy, however, there are actually natural oils that don't clog the pores at all but absorb into the skin without leaving a greasy, oily feeling.
Besides that, using a natural oil facial moisturizer is extremely important for the health of your skin, fighting wrinkles and, of course, moisturizing the outer layer of your skin. We also have to remember that stress and environmental factors strip away the skin's natural oils daily so we need to look after the loss.
Then why are people so dead set on trying to find an oil free anti-aging facial moisturizer? My theory is that people steer clear of oil based moisturizers because of the mineral oil that they contain. Yes, mineral oil is not very good for the skin.
Take a look at what mineral oil, a very commonly used oil ingredient in moisturizing products, is all about:
• is a byproduct of petrolium production and can go by the names like paraffin wax, petrolatum, and baby oil.
• it's used as a cheap filler in skin care products.
• it may feel as though it's moisturizing your skin, however, in reality it interferes with normal perspiration, clogs pores and prevents the skin from eliminating toxins.
So, if you're not thrilled about oil as an ingredient in moisturizers but know it's needed, what kinds of oils are good to use on the skin besides resorting to an oil free facial moisturizer?
Here are a few:
1. Macadamia Oil: this oil contains a high amount of palmitoleic acid making it an effective anti-oxidant. Palmitoleic acid, is an Omega-7 in natural glycerides, and macadamia oil has a naturally high concentration of around 40%. Suitable for all skin types and penetrates and hydrates the skin quickly.
2. Jojoba Oil: a shrub (Jojoba) originating from California and Mexico. Grown for the liquid wax (jojoba oil) in its seeds. Jojoba oil is a long straight-chain wax ester which is very similar to natural skin sebum.
So there you have it, all those oil free anti-aging facial moisturizer products are just not healthy for your skin, which makes them a waste of your time and money.
